To me, PSCU's DEI program is about educating and being educated! As the only African American VP at PSCU, one of my personal goals is to mentor others and instill confidence in their ability to succeed in whatever path they choose. Just one way we measure the success of our DEI strategies is tracking the makeup of our employees over time. We know there is always more to do, but we use these quarterly diversity metrics to evaluate our progress and drive toward a more representative workforce.
DEI is about more than just responsibility. It is also about accountability, and it starts with each of us making a commitment to change and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion. We all have the power – through one word, one action or one story – to make a difference and influence positive change, and at PSCU, we are making strides to improve accountability as an organization through metrics, culture listening sessions and leadership accountability. We are creating a “racial justice” framework to move PSCU from a reactive posture to a more powerful, proactive and even preventive approach. We are also reviewing our talent ecosystem and talent processes for unconscious bias and inequity and then working with key stakeholders to close gaps, including inserting measurements to monitor positive progress.
