PSCU’s 2018 Member Forum Garners Record-Breaking Attendance

Annual event engages, empowers and elevates nearly 900 attendees from across the country

St. Petersburg, Fla. – (May 8, 2018) PSCU – the nation’s leading credit union service organization – hosted its annual conference on April 24-26, in St. Louis. The first ever sold-out event brought together nearly 900 attendees from PSCU Owner credit unions, employees, partners and vendors, along with more than 100 prospective credit union attendees and the largest media presence ever to attend Member Forum. Member Forum 2019 will take place in Austin, Texas, on April 2-4, 2019; pre-registration is now open online.

The theme for this year’s event – Engage. Empower. Elevate. – encouraged all attendees to consider how they engage with their stakeholders, empower their members and elevate their credit union’s standing and capabilities. The full agenda included keynote speakers, networking and entertainment, along with breakout sessions led by industry experts covering topics ranging from digital, analytics and fintech to customer service, emerging payments and cybersecurity.

PSCU President and CEO Chuck Fagan kicked off this year’s event by announcing that PSCU has formed a new company and platform called Lumin Digital that will redefine digital banking for credit unions. Following a 16-month concept-to-creation process, Lumin Digital promises to provide users with exceptional experiences and seamless card activation, controls and bill pay to go beyond traditional digital banking and foster deeper interactions with members. Both breakout sessions for the Lumin Digital demo had standing room only.

The launch of Lumin Digital aligns with Fagan’s top priorities as CEO of the nation’s leading CUSO. Fagan emphasized that PSCU, together with its 2,000 employees, will continue to strive to provide an unparalleled member experience for all of its Owners. “PSCU works hard for you and your members,” he said.

University of Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban gave the conference’s opening keynote address, “The Standard We Want to Play To.” His much-anticipated keynote emphasized the importance of people’s mindsets within your organization. Coach Saban – who just led the Crimson Tide to another National Championship victory – stressed that aligning employees with your company’s vision, goals and aspirations is the way to win.

Other Member Forum general and leadership session speakers included Guy Kawasaki, who rose to fame as the chief evangelist for Apple and is now the chief evangelist of Canva, an online graphic design tool; Aneesh Chopra, former Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. and current President of CareJourney; Dan Schulman, CEO and President of PayPal; and Jennifer Fleiss, Co-founder of Rent the Runway and current CEO and Co-founder of Code Eight, the first portfolio company within Walmart’s startup incubator.

Award-winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor, producer and philanthropist Soledad O’Brien delivered the conference’s closing keynote address and also spoke at the women’s leadership breakfast earlier that morning. O’Brien discussed how she learned that her career – telling other people’s stories – could not only impact and affect their lives for the better, but how important it is to shape and build your own personal story. “Words do matter, and stories can show us there is a shared humanity,” said O’Brien, getting to the heart of the credit union mandate of people helping people.

The Expo, which also took place during the conference, offered attendees a chance to explore the many integrated solutions PSCU currently has in market that support, protect and optimize every transaction and interaction for its cooperative members.

During the cooperative’s annual business meeting at Member Forum, PSCU reelected four members to its Board of Directors for three-year terms. These members include Gene Foley, President and CEO of Harvard University Employees Credit Union, Mass. (Treasurer); Sean Rathjen, President and CEO of Consumers Credit Union, Ill. (Secretary); Dave Doss, President and CEO of OneAZ Credit Union, Ariz. (Past Chair); and Cathy Pace, President and CEO of Allegacy Federal Credit Union, N.C. (Vice Chair); Craig Esrael, President and CEO of First South Financial Credit Union, Tn.; Andrew Rosen, President and CEO of Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Hawaii; Kit Snyder, President and CEO of Consumers Credit Union, Mich.; Rob Stuart, President and CEO, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Ore.; Frank Weidner, President and CEO of Wings Financial Credit Union, Minn.; Chris Shockley, President and CEO of Virginia Credit Union, Va.
