PSCU Helps Drive More Than $8 Million in Total Donations as Co-Lead Sponsor of Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run

St. Petersburg, Fla. – (March 30, 2017) – People working together to improve their community is at the heart of the credit union mission. And since 2008, PSCU, the nation’s leading Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO), has supported Washington D.C.’s signature running event that boosts visibility and awareness of credit unions. PSCU’s co-commitment with CUNA Mutual Group to underwrite title sponsorship expenses for the world-class Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run^®, a member of the Credit Union Miracle Day (CUMD) Family of Races, means that the money raised furthers research and medical care at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide.

PSCU will come together with credit unions, industry partners and hundreds of volunteers to prepare all the gear, support and entertainment for 15,000 runners. When the race starts at 7:30 a.m. on April 2, those runners will have contributed over $102,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, an international, non-profit organization that helps treat millions of children across the U.S. and Canada. CUMD will present a check for nearly $600,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2002, CUMD has raised over $8 million for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

The CUMD Family of Races also includes the Credit Union SacTown Ten-Mile Run in Sacramento‚ Calif. on April 2‚ and two Freedom Ten Mile Runs for the troops, one on April 2 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, sponsored by the Defense Credit Union Council, and another on April 15 at Wiesbaden Army Garrison, Germany, sponsored by Andrews FCU.

Capitol Hill is heavily involved with the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, with 190 U.S. Senators and Representatives serving as Honorary Race Chairs. Since 2002, members of Congress and their staff have participated in the race in a friendly team competition. Their participation is sponsored by Congressional Federal Credit Union and United States Senate Federal Credit Union, with support from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU). PSCU also proudly sends a team of runners to take part in the excitement and challenge of the Washington, D.C. competition. The team is comprised of employees from all PSCU locations, selected in a company-wide lottery.
