Credit Union Student Choice Adds PSCU’s Tom Gandre to Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. (May 19, 2016)  Credit Union Student Choice, the foremost provider of higher education financing solutions to America’s credit unions, announced that Tom Gandre, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of PSCU, has joined its Board of Directors.

“From day one, Student Choice has been credit union owned and directed,” said Scott Patterson, President and CEO of Credit Union Student Choice. “We’ve benefitted greatly over the last eight years from a highly engaged Board filled with dynamic credit union industry leaders and Tom will be a tremendous addition. He’s been a strong supporter since our founding in 2008 and his extensive background in organizational strategy and CUSO leadership will play a critical role as we identify new opportunities to help credit unions empower young adults and families through responsible financing.”

As Chief Operating Officer of PSCU, Gandre leads the cooperative’s operations to include Information Technology, Operation Services, Product Development, Vendor Management, CU Learning, Innovation, Fraud, Collections and the Contact Centers. Prior to joining PSCU, Gandre was SVP of Product Development and Management at First Data Corp.

“It has been amazing to witness Student Choice’s success and continued evolution,” said Gandre. “The CUSO’s mission of delivering credit unions a holistic lending solution has validated the significant role that credit unions should be playing in higher education funding. Responsibly attaining a college degree is one of the most self-empowering decisions an individual can make, yielding a much greater opportunity for life-long financial wellness.”

According to Gandre, he is excited to join the Student Choice board to not only build upon its founding mission but also help guide the next phase of the CUSO’s development. “Student Choice has grown to become the most prominent organization helping credit unions deliver education funding solutions, an important and fast-growing area of the diversified credit union loan portfolio,” added Gandre. “The organization is in a fantastic position to build upon that success and I look forward to helping it play an even more significant role in this burgeoning area of member service and lending.”
