PSCU Announces Keynotes for 2019 Member Forum

Speaker lineup for annual meeting includes Peyton Manning, Laila Ali and Marlee Matlin

St. Petersburg, Fla. — (Feb. 5, 2019) — Attendees at PSCU’s Member Forum 2019 will have the opportunity to hear from an impressive lineup of speakers during the CUSO’s annual meeting, which is being held April 2-4 at the JW Marriott Austin. This year’s speakers will include two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning, four-time undefeated world boxing champion Laila Ali and Academy Award-winning actress and activist Marlee Matlin, among others. Registration for Member Forum 2019 is now open for Owner credit unions and can be accessed here. Last year’s event sold out, so early registration is recommended.

The theme for this year’s Member Forum is “Beyond Limits,” and there is no doubt this powerful message applies to Manning’s life. Not only has Manning surpassed expectations at every level of his career – academically and athletically at the University of Tennessee, as a community leader and All-Pro performer in the NFL and professionally with his business acumen and performance abilities in his post-football career – but also coming back from two neck surgeries that many thought would be career-ending to win his second Super Bowl. The NFL’s only five-time Most Valuable Player and a 14-time Pro Bowl selection, Manning earned his place among the greatest quarterbacks in league history as a leader in nearly every statistical passing category.

The daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali, Laila is a four-time undefeated world boxing champion, whose stellar record includes 24 wins (21 of which were "knockouts") and zero losses. She is also a fitness and wellness expert and cooking enthusiast. She has appeared on several television programs including hosting Everyday Health airing nationwide on ABC and in 2012 making history as the first female analyst to commentate for NBC/CNBC on women's boxing being included in the world Olympics. In 2017, Ali authored and published a motivational book for young women titled Reach! She is a supporter of many non-profit organizations including the Women’s Sports Foundation, Feeding America and Healthy Child, Healthy World. In addition to her keynote, attendees will have the privilege of hearing Ali during the conference’s Inclusion and Diversity Breakfast hosted by Susan Adams Women’s Network, Sankofa and PSCUnity.

"A Conversation with Marlee Matlin: From Oscar to the West Wing and Beyond” will take listeners through the ups and downs she has faced throughout her life. Though Matlin lost her hearing when she was only 18 months old, she never let her challenges deter her dreams. At 21, she became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar and only one of four actresses to receive the honor for her film debut. Along with a successful Hollywood career, Matlin has dedicated herself to raising awareness for many humanitarian causes, including diversity and LGBT rights. She is a staunch advocate for children and a champion for those struggling against domestic abuse and addiction. Matlin has also helped raise awareness for better hearing health for millions of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults in developing countries, in support of the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

John Foley, Former Lead Solo Pilot of the Blue Angels, will deliver a keynote titled, "The High Performance Climb.” During his career in the Navy, Foley consistently performed in an extreme, high-stakes environment, flying at speeds of more than 500 miles per hour and in formations as close as 18 inches apart. Today, he inspires greatness while propelling others on their own journey toward higher performance as one of the most in-demand speakers in the country.

Speaker Mike Walsh has been a pioneer in the digital space since the 1990s, running successful start-up ventures as well as holding senior leadership positions in established media organizations. A leading authority on consumer innovation and the digital future, Walsh will speak to conference attendees about machine intelligence and digital transformation in the current era of disruptive technological change. His bestselling books include ‘Futuretainment’ and ‘The Dictionary of Dangerous Ideas.’ He is currently the CEO of Tomorrow, a global consultancy on designing companies for the 21st century.

Finally, Bob Trunzo is president and CEO of CUNA Mutual Group. CUNA Mutual Group is the leading provider of insurance and financial services to credit unions and their members, as well as a leader in the small business retirement plan services market. The company has $3.5 billion in annual revenue and more than 3,200 employees.

In addition to dynamic keynote speakers, senior leadership sessions and strategic insights on digital payments and other industry-leading topics, Member Forum will provide attendees with all the tools necessary to exceed member expectations and meet evolving consumer demands. Topics for breakout sessions will include member engagement, fraud and cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), data and analytics, marketing, loyalty and more.

“We look forward to delivering a first-class, industry-leading event to celebrate all the possibilities PSCU makes possible for our Owner credit unions across the country each and every day. We hope to see everyone in Austin!” said Dean Young, Executive Vice President, Chief Experience Officer of PSCU.
